Events Commemorating the 98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide held in Canada

On April 21 events commemorating the 98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were held in Canadaian cities of Montreal, Vancouver, Cambridge, Hamliton, Saint Catharines. Toronto's Armenian Centre hosted the biggest event organized by the three tradional Armenian parties, that was attended by more than 600 guests. Among them was the Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism Chungsen Leung, who read the Prime Minister Harper's Statement commemorating the Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The statement of the Premier of the Province of Ontario was also read during the event.

The key-note speaker of the event H.E. Ambassador Armen Yeganian stressed in his address that the impunity of the Armenian Genocide paved the way for the Holocaust, genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Darfur and other tragedies throughout the world.

Afterwards the guests laid flowers at monument dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
