Events on the occasion of the International Women’s Day under the auspices of Ambassador Yeganian took place in Montreal
On March 11-12th, events celebrating International Women’s Day organized by the Armenian Relief Society of Canada took place in Montreal under the auspices of H.E. Armen Yeganian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada.
On March 11th “Women of 1915” by famous Canadian-Armenian filmmaker Bared Maronian was screened at the Armenian Community Centre of Montreal. Ambassador Yeganian, His Grace, Archbishop Babken Tcharian, Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada, leaders of Armenian community organizations and many Canadian-Armenians attended the event.
During his speech, which followed the film screening, Ambassador Yeganian stressed that the film, in addition to being important tool in encouraging international recoginition of the Armenian Genocide, was also a fitting tribute to all the Armenian women who were victims of the Genocide. Ambassador congratulated Director Maronian and all those who had their input in the creation of the film.
During March 12th event Ambassador Yeganian congratulated the women present at the event, as well as all women on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. He wished them strength and perseverance in their continuous work and all future endevours that they carry out for the homeland.
During the event, Ambassador Yeganian presented a Medal of Gratitude, granted by Serzh Sargsyan, the President of the Republic of Armenia, to the long-time former President of the Armenian Relief Society of Canada, Mrs. Vanuhi Isajanian, for her dedication to the Motherland and remarkable contribution to the strengthening of Dispora’s relationship with Armenia.
