On November 21st, the Annual General Meeting of Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group took place at the Parliament of Canada. Levon Martirosyan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada attended the meeting.

During the meeting, new members were elected to the friendship group. Bryan May, member of the ruling Liberal party, was elected President of the group.

In his address during the meeting, Ambassador Martirosyan spoke about the previous work of the group. He underlined the role of the former Chair, the late Mr. Arnold Chan, and once again expressed deepest condolences to the members of the friendship group concerning the untimely death of Mr. Chan.

The Ambassador touched upon all spheres of Armenian-Canadian relations, including bilateral political, economic and cultural ties. He also emphasized Armenian-Canadian effective cooperation in international arena, particularly in the framework of the International Organization of La Francophonie. In that context, he mentioned that the Summit of the Francophonie is being prepared in Armenia with great trepidation, noting that the participation of a high-level delegation from Canada, headed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected at the Summit.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador and the members of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group exchanged views about the key issues of the bilateral relations.
