Ambassador's Meeting with the Leader of the Official Opposition

On January 29 Ambassador Yeganian met with the Leader of the Official Opposition of Canada the Honourable Thomas Mulcaire of the New Democratic Party.

The sides discussed bilateral political, economic, cultural issues, cooperation in the fields of mining and high-tech with Canada – the top investor in Armenia in 2012.

Mr. Mulcaire congratulated Armenia on becoming a full-fledged member of the Organization of Francophonie. Ambassador stressed that the membership to the Organization opens up new avenues for more intensive relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Yeganian and the Honourable Mulcaire discussed the challenges and political priorities in the Southern Caucasus. Armenian Ambassador briefed in detail about the ongoing negotiations within the format of the Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.

Ambassador thanked Mr. Mulcaire for his personal and NDP’s continuing support to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and added that legislating the condemnation of genocides is essential for prevention of similar crimes against humanity in the future.
