Events Dedicated to the 95th Anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia

In May and June several events dedicated to the 95th Anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia took place in Canada.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia celebrations were held in Montreal and Toronto on May 26 and June 2 accordingly.

Ambassador Armen Yeganian addressed the audiences of both events and spoke on the foundations of the First Republic - underlining the ability of Armenians to restore their independence in the harshest conditions. Ambassador also noted the historical importance of the 1918 events.

The key-note speaker in Montreal was Prof. Richard Hovannisian who presented the history of the First Republic in details.

A closing event was organized on June 5th at the Embassy of Armenia, where a classical recital performed by New York based artists Karen Ouzounian, Tanya Gabrielian and Miho Saegusa took place. The event was attended by diplomats, representatives of the Canadian authorities and the Armenian community.
