Working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia to Canada

His Excellency Vartan Oskanian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, paid a short working visit to Canada on May 22, 2006, to meet with Armenian community within the scope of upcoming 3rd Armenia-Diaspora Conference to be held in September 2006 and other significant events devoted to the 15th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia.

Meetings with representatives of community organizations took place at the Embassy in Ottawa.

Minister Oskanian focused specifically on the Armenian Government new initiative to develop the rural areas of Armenia and modernize their infrastructure with support of Armenian communities.

Reception was organized at the Embassy for community representatives from Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and other cities of the country.

At the end of the event Minister Oskanian answered questions from the audience. Minister Oskanian also introduced the new Chargé d'Affaires to Canada, Mr. Arman Akopian.
