98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Commemorated in Ottawa

24 April, 2013

On April 24 an event commemorating the 98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place at the Armenian Embassy in Ottawa. Representatives of the Armenian community organizations from several Canadian cities laid memorial wreaths at  "Armenia Immortal" monument and the clergymen led by Bishop Bagrat Galstanian and Archbishop Khajag Hakobian prayed for the souls of the innocent victims of Medz Yeghern.

The participants then moved to the Parliament Hill of Canada, where representatives of three major Canadian parties and Armenian community delivered commemorative speeches.

In his statement Ambassador Yeganian emphasized the importance of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the unacceptability of the denial by the Turkish government.
