Ambassador Yeganian's meeting with the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of the House of Commons of Canada

On April 12th, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, Armen Yeganian had a working meeting with Robert Nault, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of the House of Commons of Canada.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yeganian spoke in detail about the recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh and strongly condemned the attacks and violence initiated by Azerbaijan. The Ambassador asked Mr. Nault to urge Canadian Government to demonstrate a distinct attitude towards Azerbaijan and refrain from unaddressed calls.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of affairs between Armenia and Canadia and recent developments in all the spheres of mutual interest. The Ambassador also touched upon the Canadian companies operating in Armenia.

At Robert Nault's request, Ambassador Yeganian presented the situation of Syrian-Armenian refugees and issues concerning them in Canada. He mentioned that Armenia received over 20.000 Syrian-Armenian as well as other Christian refugees from Syria and spoke about the efforts to support Syrian-Armenians who took refuge in Armenia.

Armen Yeganian touched upon Armenia's participation in peacekeeping operations in various countries.

Ideas regarding Armenian-Canadian effective cooperation in international arena, particularly in the framework of International Organization of la Francophonie were exchanged.
