Ambassador Yeganian’s meeting with the Minister of Canadian Heritage

On April 22, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada Armen Yeganian met the Minister of Canadian Heritage Mélanie Joly, who is responsible for cultural affairs as well as telecommunication industry.

During the meeting, the parties discussed wide range of issues related to bilateral relations. Summarizing the events, dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide parties discussed upcoming events for 2016, including the second Global Forum "Against the Crime of Genocide", which is to take place on April 23, in Yerevan. Minister Joly mentioned that she is well aware of the commemoration events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of Armenian Genocide to be organized in Canada and will take part in the march on this occasion on May 8, in Montreal.

Ambassador Yeganian presented in detail Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh at the beginning of April and its consequences. He urged to demonstrate distinct approach and to condemn the initiator of military actions by addressed calls.

Armen Yeganian and Mélanie Joly discussed the process of preparation of cultural events, dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Armenia's independence this year and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Canada in 2017, as well as the 150th anniversary of Canada to be celebrated next year. Minister Joly expressed her willingness to support these projects.
