Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Canada

On October 25, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, who is in Armenia on an official visit.

At the Foreign Ministry of Armenia tête-à-tête meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Canada took place, followed by the enlarged meeting with participation of both delegations. After the meeting Ararat Mirzoyan and Mélanie Joly held a joint press conference.

On the same day, with participation of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Canada, the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of Canada in the Republic of Armenia took place.

During the ceremony Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan said: “This is a truly historical event and truly historical day. It is an honour for me, and I’m happy to be here present at the opening of the resident embassy of Canada to the Republic of Armenia. This is really, as you said, an event of which we have been speaking for years and years, and now it’s reality. Thanks to the Prime-minister of Canada for his efforts, but also your personal input in this was very tangible.

And this is another evidence of deepening of the relations between our two countries, further deepening our cooperation. And we are looking forward to that. So thank you very much. Congratulations.”

On the sidelines of the visit, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial and paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the Genocide.
